Key Issue or problem the project is to address?

Following agreement at a meeting in Canberra in 2003 between Regulatory Authorities, Chief Nurses and the Minister for Aged Care of the Australian Government, the ANMC recommended in May 2005 that regulatory authorities throughout Australia adopt the principles of the Queensland Decision Making framework. The Purpose of the Framework is to provide guidance for the individual nurse, the nursing profession, other health professionals, health service providers and consumers in decision making about the scope of nursing practice. Previous scope of practice for nurses was limited to the undergraduate training and task oriented. The Decision Making Framework aims to assist the profession in responding to the rapidly changing health care environment.
